Global Peace and Development Service Alliance (GPDSA) is a youth service network spanning Africa, uniting youth, organizations, government agencies, private sector and multilateral partners in action on health, education, environment, entrepreneurship, conflict prevention and resolution as well as youth engagement across ethnic secretarian and political borders.
Environment Service Track
The Environmental Track addresses climate change with focus on reforestation and waste waste management. The track is implementing a community cooker project in Kariobangi aimed at promoting sustainable waste management by adopting a waste to energy technology. It focuses on instilling entrepreneurship culture among the youth to improve livelihoods of at least 1,000 households in the Kariobangi slums.
Implemented through a social enterprise approach, the project advances the principles of sustainable development Goals (SDGs) including the use of combustible waste to generate energy for cooking which reduces negative impacts on forests, cleans immediate environments, provides safe and clean cooking conditions for households while empowering youth with skills and sources of income to reduce the high unemployment rates.
