Leap Hub Students to pitch their innovative ideas on “World Entrepreneurship Day”

Nairobi, Kenya July, 10, 2015 – In preparation for the globally celebrated ‘World Entrepreneurship Day‘ on the 21st, August every year, the Education Team visited 7 Leap Hub Schools within Nairobi and Kiambu counties to listen and collect samples of Leap Hub students’ innovative ideas and provide guidance and assistance in developing them further into online applications in readiness for pitching to potential investors on World Entrepreneurship Day.

To list but a few, among the ideas collected is a mobile application from Mang’u High School, where the spirit of entrepreneurship has clearly taken root. The students have developed an app called Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) which acts as a car tracking device that enables users to remotely locate information, status and position of their car. The system sends alerts to users inform of messages on their handsets whenever a foreigner tries to force the door open.

PANACEA from Moi Forces Academy is a computer software that enables one to store personal documents for example birth certificates, title deeds, CV’s and identification cards for future references. It offers robust document management system with features like Email Integration, Security, Mobile Compatibility, among others.

The E-DOC functions as a website where patients can book appointments online without physically going to the hospital. It has been integrated with chat capabilities dabbed “virtual doctor” that will enable patients contact with doctors remotely for assistance.

Finally but not least, is the Medic App which is a mobile application that will enable physicians to review drug prescription and safety information, select health insurance formula for drug coverage information, performs calculations like BMI and GFR and access medical news and research.

This year’s celebrations are meant to create awareness for entrepreneurship and innovation throughout the world. During this day, founders, managers, producers, contractors, industrialists, innovators, administrators, designers and producers will come together to identify great business ideas from new and emerging entrepreneurs.

The Global Peace Foundation has therefore scheduled to celebrate this day on 12th September at the Center for Mathematics Science and Technology in East Africa to promote the entrepreneurship culture among its leap Hubs students by providing a platform for them to pitch their innovative ventures to potential investors for idealization.
