GPY Convenes a Forum for Peace Volunteers

Global Peace Foundation Kenya in conjunction with other peace serving organizations within the “One Nation Under God” peace platform, convened a National Consultative Meeting  for peace volunteers from 33 counties in Kenya. The goal was to share the strategic focus of the National Peace Initiative (NPI), build capacity for both functional and administrative components for the peace campaign.

The forum highlighted various emerging issues in the country in relation to the 2017 general elections. Participants committed to support the National Peace Initiative by bringing together their efforts through a collective impact approach.

They proposed to conduct series of ONUG Mashinani (Grassroot) engagement with women and youth. This will also involve other key stakeholders including Teachers, Faith leaders, and Musicians. Volunteer participants were awarded certificates to recongize there efforts in peace building.

In his address, the Director for Youth Programs Mr. Arthur Oyange thanked the volunteers for their support and commitment to peace building and encouraged them to promote peaceful coexistence in their communities for sustainable development.
