The quest for a greener Kenya and desire to combat climate change and its effects remains a big conversation across the globe. Many countries including big economies such us United States, United Kingdom, China and India are implementing policies in agreement with United Nations to ensure that the effects of climate change are reversed successfully.
This however, must and should be a responsibility for each and every individual in the entire world to start tree planting, reforestation and other initiatives that can help restore our earth.
It is this big concern that the Global Peace Foundation Kenya and its partners are always in the frontline in promoting environmental activism.
In our follow up on the excellent work being done by our county ambassadors in regards to environmental protection, we feature ambassador Kelvin Nderitu who is the climate change officer, Nyandarua county.
Recently the county government of Nyandarua in collaboration with National Youth Council under the program called “Green Kenya Initiative” planted over 1,000 tree seedlings in Ndaragwa Girls’ High School and Subuku Secondary School to help the government achieve 10% forest cover in Kenya and in line with United Nations framework.
Ambassador Kelvin who works closely with the department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Tourism in Nyandarua county was at the center of planning and execution of this noble program.
Their future plan is to ensure that they plant over 10,000 new trees across Nyandarua county, supporting the ongoing 1 million tree planting campaign across the country by Global Peace Foundation Kenya and its partners.
To ambassador Kelvin Nderitu, we are delighted with the amazing work you are doing in your county and representing GPF-Kenya too on the ground.
Together we shall achieve more!
