Nairobi, Kenya – 12 June, 2025

At the heart of this year’s Criminal Justice Week at United States International University – Africa was a powerful call to action: youth must rise, speak, and shape the future of justice in Kenya.

Global Peace Foundation Kenya’s Country Director and Africa Regional Representative for Global Peace Foundation, Mr. Daniel Juma Omondi, delivered a rousing keynote urging young people to overcome fear and become fearless innovators, likening the courage of freedom fighters to today’s youth driving systemic change:

“If you’re too afraid to lose your life, you end up living on your knees. You must dare to create the next big thing—don’t just consume information, synthesize it and lead.”

The forum also featured Madam Julie, Head of the Witness Protection Agency, who unpacked the three-tier structure of witness protection in Kenya, emphasizing youth awareness as key to safeguarding justice:

“Protection isn’t just physical—it’s a legal and moral right for anyone under real threat, and the youth must know how to access these systems.”

Lawyer Christine Kung’u, a gender justice advocate, challenged youth to confront toxic norms, fight gender-based violence, and demand inclusivity:

“Femicide, gender stereotypes, and age discrimination persist because we’re too silent. The youth have the voice, the reach, and the power—use it.”

From reimagining leadership to amplifying digital advocacy, this dialogue affirmed the critical role of young people as changemakers in Kenya’s criminal justice space.

🕊️ We’re building a nation where justice is fearless, gender-inclusive, and youth-powered.
