The African Regional Representative for the Global Peace Foundation, Mr. Daniel Juma, joined leaders from government, civil society, and the private sector at the official launch of the SMACHS Centre of Excellence and Strategic Plan 2025–2030.

The event, hosted by the SMACHS Foundation, marked a transformative milestone in advancing climate-smart agriculture, sustainable innovation, and youth empowerment across Kenya and beyond.

The newly launched Centre of Excellence, a joint initiative between SMACHS Foundation and its partners, is designed to inspire, train, and empower communities through hands-on demonstrations of climate-smart agricultural practices. Serving as a living classroom where innovation meets sustainability, the Centre integrates technology, agritech, and environmental care to promote economic growth, food security, and climate resilience.

In her keynote address, Ms. Charlene Ruto, Founder and CEO of SMACHS Foundation, emphasized the importance of transformative partnerships in driving localized and continental aspirations. She reflected on recent milestones, including a landmark development partners’ breakfast meeting convened by the Foundation to strengthen collaboration among government, civil society, and development partners in accelerating the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and Kenya’s Vision 2030.

“Together, let us build an Africa that is prosperous, inclusive, and people-driven,” she said. “SMACHS Foundation remains committed to working hand in hand with partners to advance the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. This Centre of Excellence is a testament to what collaboration and innovation can achieve.”

The Centre features diverse units including seedling propagation, tree nurseries, smart agritech systems, and apiculture classrooms, aimed at nurturing innovation and equipping communities with the tools and knowledge to thrive amid climate change. Proceeds from the farm’s activities will be reinvested to sustain the Centre’s programs.
