The Global Peace Foundation Kenya, through its Environment Manager Mr. Japheth Ouda, joined Daystar University, Athi River Campus, and Safaricom PLC in an impactful tree planting exercise of 5,000 assorted trees within the university’s expansive 300-acre land. This is part of GPF Kenya’s broad commitment to the promotion of environmental conservation and sustainability among educational institutions and communities as a whole.
The activity also enhances Daystar University’s strategic plan to attain 30% forest cover on campus, in line with Kenya’s national environmental goals and the Presidential directive to grow 15 billion trees by 2032. The exercise was powered by the Chandaria Tree Nurseries at Daystar University, a vibrant project designed to foster environmental stewardship coupled with innovation, volunteerism, and active youth engagement.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Ouda emphasized that addressing climate change and sustainable ecosystems required collaborations across many sectors.
“Tree planting is more than an environmental activity; it is a call to action for our generation to take responsibility for a sustainable future. This partnership inspires and empowers young people to take charge of Kenya’s green transformation,” he said.
This collaboration epitomizes the guiding philosophy of the Global Peace Foundation Kenya: “One Family under God,” which emphasizes shared responsibility and collective action in caring for the planet.
As Kenya races toward its national tree restoration target, GPF Kenya continues to mobilize youth, educational institutions, and private sector partners in driving climate action, social enterprise, and community resilience.
