Embu County, Kenya
Global Peace Women (GPW), in partnership with Global Peace Foundation Kenya, successfully conducted a two-day community engagement in Embu County, convening religious leaders to reflect on their critical role in strengthening families and supporting parents to raise morally grounded and innovative children.
The engagement was anchored in GPW’s values-based approach, recognizing the family as the cornerstone of peaceful societies and sustainable leadership.
Day 1: Foundations & Context
The first day centered on a Parents’ Guide to Teaching Children Values in the Family, highlighting the home as the first school of character formation. Religious leaders engaged in reflective discussions on how parents can intentionally instill core values such as integrity, respect, discipline, compassion, and responsibility from an early age. The conversations were contextualized within Embu’s cultural and faith traditions, emphasizing shared community responsibility in nurturing future leaders.
Day 2: Empowering Parents for Moral and Innovative Leadership
Building on the foundational discussions, Day 2 focused on empowering parents to raise children who are not only morally upright but also innovative and forward-thinking. Religious leaders examined the role of faith institutions in promoting positive parenting, mentorship, and value-based guidance as practical responses to the challenges facing families today.
Participants reaffirmed the influential position religious leaders hold in guiding parents, reinforcing moral leadership, and strengthening family units within churches and the broader community.
The two-day engagement concluded with a renewed commitment by faith leaders to actively support families and champion values-based parenting as a pathway to peaceful, resilient, and prosperous communities.
