Nairobi, Kenya — February 18, 2026 — Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Kenya has further strengthened its mission of building a peaceful and sustainable future by hosting Ms. Rosemary Odinga for a high-level consultative meeting. The session, which focused on scaling the “Million Tree Initiative” as central pillars for national unity.
The meeting opened with a heartfelt commendation of Ms. Odinga’s inspiring speech at the United Nations, which resonated with GPF’s core vision of peace-building. The discussions highlighted the shared legacy of the Odinga family in peace-building, specifically acknowledging the late Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga’s foundational role—a vision GPF continues to advance today through the President’s Fellowship & Chandaria Legacy Awards, and the Global Peace Leadership Corps (GPLC).
A Legacy of Green Peace
Rosemary Odinga, an environmental advocate and entrepreneur, shared her commitment to integrating environmental stewardship with peace. A major highlight of the meeting was the announcement of her personal contribution to the Million Tree Initiative: 1,500 trees currently at her farm in Kiserian, Kajiado County.
“Environmental restoration is not just a biological necessity; it is a peace-building tool,” Ms. Odinga remarked. She further suggested that environmental stewardship should be taught in schools, ensuring that young students take direct ownership of their environment from an early age.
Strategic Synergy for 2032
The partnership discussed a 10-year roadmap (2022–2032) to align with Kenya’s national goal of planting 15 billion trees. Key objectives identified include:
• Peace Foresting: Implementing “Peace Pacts” through reforestation to foster community cohesion.
• The Korean Dream Project: Introducing Ms. Odinga to the Korean Dream initiative to explore international cross-cultural exchange and support.
• COP 17 Presentation: GPF Kenya plans to model its unique peace-foresting approach at upcoming global climate forums.
