As preparations intensify for the upcoming Computing Boot Camp for Computer Science Tertiary Educators, Global Peace Foundation Kenya recently held a strategic planning meeting with Dr. John Kamau, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics at Mount Kenya University.
The meeting focused on aligning key objectives, curriculum content, and logistics for the boot camp, which will bring together tertiary-level Computer Science educators for a hands-on learning experience centered on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cloud Computing.
Scheduled for 27th March 2026 at the Thika Main Campus of Mount Kenya University, the boot camp is being organized in partnership with Oracle Academy and Mount Kenya University, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening digital education and preparing educators to lead in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
During the preparatory discussions, Dr. Kamau emphasized the importance of continuous professional development for educators in the technology sector, noting that emerging technologies such as AI and cloud platforms are reshaping the global workforce and academic curriculum alike.
The upcoming boot camp will equip participating lecturers and instructors with practical knowledge, tools, and frameworks to integrate AI and cloud technologies into teaching, research, and curriculum development. Through collaborative learning and exposure to industry-driven platforms, educators will gain insights that empower them to better prepare students for opportunities in the digital economy.
For Global Peace Foundation Kenya, the initiative forms part of its broader mission to promote transformative leadership, innovation, and education. By strengthening partnerships between academia and technology leaders, the organization continues to create opportunities that empower educators and young people to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
The boot camp will also serve as a platform for knowledge exchange between educators, technology experts, and academic leaders, fostering a collaborative ecosystem that supports innovation-driven education across Kenya.
Interested educators and institutional partners are encouraged to connect with the organizing team to learn more about participation opportunities.
