Who We Are

The Global Peace Foundation Kenya (GPFK) is a company limited operating in Kenya under THE COMPANIES ACT, 2015 which repealed CAP 486 of the Companies Act and was issued with a Certificate of Registration number CPR/2010/24290 on 4th June 2010 as Global Peace Festival Foundation.  Following a Special Resolution of the Company, the Registrar of Companies approved the Change of Name to Global Peace Foundation on 2nd July 2013.  GPFK is affiliated to the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) a 501(c)3 registered non-sectarian, non-partisan, non-profit organization with charity ID: 26-4599860 with its headquarters in Washington DC and which promotes an innovative values based approach to peacebuilding guided by the vision of One Family Under God.

GPF engages and organizes a global network of public and private sector partners who develop community, national and regional peacebuilding models as the foundation for ethical and cohesive societies. Founded in the year 2009, the foundation has its international offices in Washington DC and operates in more than twenty countries. To achieve this, GPF convenes and implements development projects and conferences on grassroots peacebuilding, education, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership development.  It contributes to the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Sustainable Development Goals and other agenda items agreed on by the UN member nations. As a result, in 2019, GPF received a special consultative status with the United Nations Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC). 

GPFK is a member institution of the Oracle Academy and has initiated projects such as Leap hubs, Character and Creativity Initiative, the Great Places To School, The Presidents Fellowship, the One Million Tree Growing Campaign, Taifa Langu Jukumu Langu (PVE) and other several other interventions in line with its peacebuilding mandate. The organization has worked closely partners with the Presidential Digitalent Programme and the ICT Authority to mentor the youth with the objective of enhancing their employability.

History and work of GPF in Kenya

The organization was established in Kenya in the year 2010 at the invitation of Kenya’s 3rd President His Excellency Mwai Kibaki after he hosted GPF founder Dr. Hyun Jin Preston Moon in Nairobi. In November 17-21,2010, President Kibaki’s administration partnered with the GPF to host the Global Peace Convention in Nairobi.

Since then and with the guidance of its patron Dr. Manu Chandaria, GPFK has been working with the Kenyan government and other partners such as the UN in Kenya, IGAD, IBM, Google, Oracle, Andela, KEPSA, Airtel, the Standard Group, Cemastea, among others to transform education through character education amongst other peacebuilding activities. As a result of GPFK work with the youth, it has received several accolades including a Certificate of Commendation from the United Nations Office in Kenya for outstanding efforts to promote a culture of service among Kenyan youth.
