Global Peace Foundation to Partner with United Religious Initiative (URI) Africa

Nairobi Kenya, 24 September, 2015 – Amb. Mussie Hailu the Regional Director of the United Religions Initiative – Africa (URI) visits GPF Kenya to hand over a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Global Peace Foundation and URI Africa on 22nd July, 2015 as a key outcome of the 2015 Global Peace Leadership Conference held in Zanzibar.The MoU is a guideline of the partnership between Global Peace Foundation and URI-Africa to promote a culture of peace across the African continent.

In a bid to enhance partnerships for sustainable peace and development in Africa with the participation of NGOs, former African Heads of States, Religious Leaders, Private Sector, Youth associations, individuals and intergovernmental organizations, the partnership will bring together faith based organizations and different religious leaders in Africa to bridge divisions and build ethical societies based on universal aspirations, principles and shared values.

URI-Africa is a non-profit interfaith peace building organization that aims to promote interfaith cooperation to end religiously motivated violence and create cultures of peace and justice for the Earth and all living beings. As a way forward, GPF Kenya will participate in the Inter Faith Youth Forum on Environment and Peace hosted by Franciscan Africa in partnership with URI Africa and other partners. The forum is scheduled to take place on 9th and 10th October 2015 at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. URI Africa will also share their scheduled activities and programs that promote interfaith collaboration with GPF for partnership in the implementation process.
