On 21st of August 2019, Ms. Diana Kwamboka, Education Director, Global Peace Foundation together with a team of Global Peace Foundation volunteers visited Lukenya Boys High School.
The aim of the visit was to hold a three day Teachers’ boot camp, with the main theme being Integrating ICT in Teaching and Learning. The whole event was sponsored by Airtel Kenya, IBM, Oracle Academy and Global Peace Foundation.
The event saw teachers from various school representatives in attendance including; Mary Hill Girls High School, Rombo Girls High School, Chania Boys High School, Moonlight High School, Olkejuado High School, Moi Forces Academy, Karama Boys High School, Jamhuri High School, Machakos Boys High School, Kariobangi North Girls High School, Ituru Boys High School and Lukenya Boys High School just to mention a few.
The training was graced by instructors from IBM East Africa and Oracle Academy who had one on one lessons with the teachers on cyber security, Artificial Intelligence and data science and how to integrate these into their teaching.
The three day-long event saw the teachers who successfully completed the training receive certificate awards, which were given to them after an evaluation by their instructors and presentations on how they were planning to implement everything they had learnt during the boot camp.
Global Peace Foundation greatly appreciates the support it got from the main sponsors of the event; IBM, Airtel Kenya and Oracle Academy and to Lukenya Boys High Schools who were the hosts of the whole event.
