The Global Peace Foundation Kenya (GPF-K) on 7th July 2021, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sasini Talanta Mtaani in Nairobi. The penning down of this mutual agreement marks the beginning of a joint work together to promote talent and creativity in Kenya.
The MOU was signed by GPF-K Country Director Mr. Daniel Juma Omondi, Mr. Maurice Okoth, CEO, Sasini Talanta Mtaani and the Director of Vera Beauty College Ambassador Alice Kamunge.
Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the Global Peace Foundation Kenya offices, Mr. Maurice Okoth said that there is need to change the youth’s perception of job seeking to ensure a divergence approach of tapping opportunities in the society without necessarily narrowing down to white collar jobs. This he added, will create an open space for the youths in Kenya to be more entrepreneurs and not job seekers.
The MOU will see the partners collaborate on youth empowerment, environmental conservation, youth education, joint application of grants, capacity building and mentorship programs, sourcing of judges and organizing of events.
On his part, Mr. Omondi said the Talanta Mtaani project was in line with the Global Peace Foundation’s theory of change of by addressing unemployment through nurturing skills and talent which is key to making the youth unavailable for misuse and exploitation into violence and extremism. He added that GPF Kenya fully embrace early identification of talents and creativity through the Character and Creativity Initiative which was launched in the year 2013 in Kenya.
