Nairobi, Kenya 25 September 2015 – The Executive Director, Global Peace Foundation Kenya, hands over a cheque worth KES 10,000 – a donation from the Chandaria Foundation – to sponsor 3 youth from Raslimali Enterprise Ltd to participate in the 2015 National Youth Green Growth Summit. Scheduled to take place from 6th – 9th October, 2015 at the Multimedia University in Nairobi the summit will be held under the theme “Youth as Active Partners to Drive the Green Growth Agenda in Kenya” This will provide a platform where youth will share information, innovations and create networks on Green Growth. It will also provide skills in sustainable development by appreciating the potential of young people and exploring the best practices in the transition to a green future.
On the other hand, Rasilmali Enterprise Ltd is an umbrella group of 11 youth groups from Kariobangi and its environs under the guidance of the Environment Track members. The group has been sponsored by a consortium of 10 corporate foundations to establish a community cooker comprising of a sanitation block and a food cafeteria that will serve as a social enterprise. Rasilmali is now estimated to be worth Kshs 10 million shillings and will soon unveil the Community Cooker that will see the youth turn waste in to energy. This aims at improving their economic status and livelihoods. Mr. Juma also handed over the registration Certificate and Memorandum of Association to the CEO of the social enterprises Mr. Erick Ravoga.
In his statement Mr. Ravoga expressed his gratitude for the sponsorship stating that; “I am very happy for the opportunity to attend this national forum. This will not only empower me as a person but also the 11 youth groups under Rasilmali Enterprise Ltd. We will utilize the knowledge from the summit to advance our environmental initiatives”.GPF Kenya in collaboration with C ‘n Lit Ltd will also showcase the Simba Solar Lantern to the County Governors and other participants in the forum as part of the Sustainable Development Goal on renewable energy.
