Nairobi, Kenya April 23 , 2015 – The Education division of Global Peace Foundation in collaboration with CISCO Academy today hosted female students from Leap Hub schools at the CISCO office in Nairobi to mark the annual celebration of United Nations ‘Girls in ICT Day’. The event was mainly geared towards inspiring girls to pursue careers in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) through hands-on exposure to the most recent technology and engagement with industry professionals.
CISCO Academy helps students develop foundational skills in ICT while acquiring vital 21st century career skills in problem solving, collaboration and critical thinking.
“Girls who apply for STEM subjects in Campus are often dissuaded due to lack of confidence,” she said. “We have so many job opportunities in line with the STEM subjects in the market today” She added. “We must do what we can to show the world that we are fearless by pursuing these fields of study.” – Mrs. Farzana, the Head of Marketing

The students were also mentored to apply some of the ICT skills gained from the event to improve their social or business ideas being incubated in the Leap Hubs.
