Global Peace Foundation Holds Talk with Kenya’s Former Prime Minister

Nairobi, Kenya 1st September, 2015 – Global Peace Foundation Country Director Daniel Juma Omondi accompanied by the Director of Strategic Partnerships Mr. Vincent Rapando had a meeting with the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya the Rt Hon. Raila Odinga at his offices in Nairobi.

The Purpose of the meeting was to discuss his upcoming trip to speak at the Global Forum on Korea in the month of October. He confirmed his participation and asked his staff to extensively research on the issue of Korea Unification and prepare his upcoming presentation. The Prime Minister expressed optimism that one day during his life time, we would be able to see a united Korea.

During this meeting, the former Prime Minister congratulated GPF for the recently held Global Peace Leadership Conference and the Africa Leadership Mission in which he was a speaker. He briefed us on his involvement in Africa Peace activities ranging from Ivory Coast when he was appointed the African Union Peace mediator, to recent involvement in Burundi and South Sudan which contributed to the recently signed Peace agreement between the South Sudan Government and the opposition.

As a member of the Africa Leadership Mission, the Prime Minister promised that he would do his best to promote good governance, democracy and political stability in the African continent which has been beset with various political unrest. He also said he is willing to support GPF in its efforts to create awareness on the issue of North and South Korea Unification and looked forward to his October trip. Hon. Raila Odinga will be accompanied by H.E James E. Ongwae the Governor of Kisii County and H.E Joseph Nanok the Governor of Turkana County in the Republic of Kenya. While in Korea, Hon. Raila Odinga and the County Governors also look forward to holding meetings with key business leaders to form partnerships and learn best practices that can be replicated in their respective Counties to promote the development of the Republic of Kenya.
