Nairobi, Kenya — May 21, 2025 — The Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Kenya has taken a significant step forward in its mission to foster transformative education across Africa through a strategic partnership with Mount Kenya University (MKU). The collaboration was formalized during a high-level meeting held today in Nairobi, led by Dr. Tony Devine, Vice President of Education at Global Peace Foundation International, and Mr. Daniel Juma, Africa Regional Representative and CEO of GPF Kenya.
The meeting was attended by key university leaders, including Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi, Vice Chancellor of MKU, along with prominent staff members such as Prof. Mwangi Peter Wanderi, Dr. Emmanuel Owuor, Dr. Benjamin Afubwa, Vincent Ayako, and Ms. Jamila Ndombi.
During the discussions, both parties reaffirmed their shared vision of nurturing morally grounded, emotionally resilient, and intellectually vibrant future leaders. Dr. Devine introduced MKU to the newly developed 10-Point Blueprint for Transforming Education: A Pathway to National Transformation, a comprehensive framework aimed at revolutionizing education systems in Kenya and beyond.
Prof. Jaganyi highlighted MKU’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, talent development, technological integration, and producing globally competitive graduates. The university’s vision aligns closely with GPF’s mission to create holistic educational experiences that prepare students for the challenges of the future.
Next Steps in the Partnership:
The collaboration will be driven by a detailed six-month work plan, aimed at activating and expanding the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Key initiatives include:
-Training MKU’s Student Leadership Council on moral and innovative leadership.
-Establishing a student club aligned with GPF Kenya’s core values.
-Facilitating GPF Kenya’s participation in MKU’s upcoming Career Fair on June 30, 2025.
-Mobilizing students and faculty from MKU to participate in the Great Places to School Initiative scheduled for June 27, 2025, at Panari Hotel.
-Engaging in the Transforming Education Workshop (August 21–22, 2025) and the Building Great Families Workshop (August 23, 2025).
-Co-developing a TV47 series based on the 10-Point Blueprint to promote educational transformation.
-GPF Kenya’s involvement in MKU’s graduation ceremonies in August and December 2025.
-MKU’s participation in the Africa Transforming Education Conference scheduled for October 2025.
-Leveraging MKU as the launchpad for the Global Peace Leadership Corps.
-Inviting MKU to participate in the upcoming Religious Freedom Roundtable organized by Pepperdine University later this year.
